Facebook

What makes MOPS even better than our bi-monthly meetings is enjoying play dates and MNO's (Mom-Night-Out) with your new found MOPS friends.  One way to get in touch with the group is to comment on our Facebook page.  Hear of a great event for the kids? Post it to the MOPS Facebook page to include moms and children who would enjoy the morning or afternoon with you.  Planning an MNO and want to meet some new MOPS moms?  Post it with date and time for a fun get together.  Want to share a favorite phone app, activity resource, or just share how excited you are to be at MOPS on a Thursday?  Post it on Facebook! : )

All you need to do is "like" our page: Main Line MOPS.  I believe you need to allow notifications to get notifications...or just check the page when you are checking out your own news feed.

Need the link?  Here it is!  https://www.facebook.com/MainLineMOPS

Happy Posting!

Cleaning up Christmas

It's January 5th and some of you have already packed away all the Christmas decorations, rationed out gifts to play with and gifts to store away until a later time, peeled off labels and pulled off tags to clean new clothes for you and your little cherubs. Truth be told, I'm doing that today. And I know some of you keep up Christmas through January. For me, I am anxious to regain a quarter of my living room that is now occupied by a tree with preschooler-made ornaments among my pre-child ornaments (yep...we still have glass on our tree....I like to think I'm brave.). I want to reorganize all the toys, purge ones that we don't need, store away those toys that may come out in a few months that will be played with as if its the first time the kids have seen them. Purging, clearing out the clutter that has amounted on my table, island, hutch, ironing board, etc. feels good during this time of year; the after Christmas clean up.

In the spirit of Christmas giving, while you set aside toys to toss, clothes to donate please consider packing them away for just a few weeks to donate to the All Children's sale in March that will benefit your MOPS group. I will speak for our Leadership Team...we all greatly appreciate your donations for the sale. The funds earned generally are used to pay our MOPPET childcare givers- a precious gift to us when we are able to enjoy a morning with our MOPS friends.

Okay....another truth: I have piles of laundry to put away but thought typing this post would be much more productive. The piles of laundry are staring at me.

'Til next time....

December 20th Meeting

Come one, come all, to the most festive meeting of them all! (enough rhyming already, I get it.)

December 20th we have a fabulous MOPS morning set up just for you.  Nancy Hicks will be sharing with us "The Living Water" and we'll also enjoy a Christmas Social!

About the social- let's have a little fun, shall weDive into the Christmas spirit by wearing your most Christmas-y attire.  We invite you to join our festive Leadership Team in wearing those "lovely" Christmas sweaters...you know, the ones your first grade teacher (and maybe 10th) would wear every Christmas season.  The ones that from the back, you know it's a Christmas sweater by the small embroidered graphic giving you a glimpse of what's to come on the front side of said Christmas sweater.  Don't have a sweater?  No fear...socks, earrings, hats, pants...if it's Christmas-y it's perfect for this morning's meeting!

What's that?  You don't own anything like I'm describing?  (hmm...maybe I should rethink my wardrobe.)  I know there are a few moms in our group who have a few to share...find out who they are to get in on the fun! : )

Gifts from the Kitchen

Oh...you'll hear all about this.  I've made a video and everything.  Good stuff...maybe I'll even post it here after our meeting this week. The suspense is too much to bear, isn't it?

"What is this Gifts from the Kitchen I keep hearing about?"  An understandable question from anyone who has not attended this event. Please be patient with me as I forget that there are those who have not attended GFTK and I just assume it's self-explanatory.  It's not...because I remember MY first year in MOPS and I thought...another acronym "GFTK"..what does it mean?  Let me lay it all out for you so you can be completely prepared for the super fun night!

Laura Spiller, our amazing Creative Activities Team leader is most likely knee deepin craft paper, ribbons, scissors, mason jars, boxes and bows...and that's just the beginning.  Wait until after she goes food shopping- the poor thing will have couches made from bags of flour and sugar, and all the other tasty ingredients that will be put to good use the night of Gifts from the Kitchen.  So, next time you see her- thank her- she's working hard to make sure this night is a blast for you and your friends!

So what is it? I know...I haven't answered it yet.  Gifts. From. The.Kitchen. Say it again, slower.  Get it?  Ladies (MOPS moms, non-MOPS moms, not-moms-at-all ladies) all file into the lovely room inside the same building as the Gym on COS' campus.  Once there, you will see five distinctive assembly lines.  Each line is a different mix to put together to make a lovely gift for someone.  (or for yourself...I've done that...Idon't know many people.)  The ingredients are are lined up and labeled soall you have to do is pour the correct amount (this is important, because inevitably someone will be baking or cooking with this mix...so do them a favorand properly measure) into the provided container.  At the end of the line there are beautiful gift packaging supplies including curled ribbon, tags, recipe cards, and the like.  Viola!  A perfect gift -- from the kitchen-- to give to someone you love, or like- maybe not like at all, but you have to give them a gift.  It happens.

Want to hear more? (Yes. You do.) You don't have to start at the first table. You could start at the third table if you'd like and then go back to the first table.  Suffice to say, you do need to get to all five tables to complete your gift set of five gifts.  Other interesting facts about the night:It's a social night, a "LNO" Ladies Night Out, so to say!  You could come and go through the lines with your friends, or try talking tosomeone who you don't well know.  Exciting things, ladies, exciting things!  There will be light refreshments served for you to enjoy so don't feel you have to make your gifts and jet.  Come, enjoy the night with your favorite ladies!

I may have missed something; my attention span is just about up.  I'd love to answer any questions you may have, so just send MOPS an email, mainlinemops@gmail.com, or get in touch with our FB page, or Laura Spiller, or any of our Leadership Team.  We'll do our best to answer your questions.  Until then...go register for this fun night!
